Counseling provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns. Your counselor will help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and others through the use of evidence-based strategies. Counseling begins with an initial intake assessment and diagnosis. Although this process may seem intimidating, it is a fundamental part of building the therapeutic alliance and developing goals for counseling.
Counseling is not meant to provide client’s with opinions or advice or prescribe medication. Professional counseling can help client’s find their own solutions and identify goals; whether that’s making effective changes in their life, overcoming addictions, strengthening self-esteem, improving relationships, or finding ways of coping with problems. Counseling can take place in the office or virtually.
